Fun Food Friday - Quick and Easy
Super easy one this week guys. I’m feeling a little fragile from last nights quiz night at the pub and the thought of letting the boys loose in the kitchen gives me the fear. Next week I promise I’ll make it up to you all.
So instead of making what I originally had planned we decided to make a smoothie. Nothing too hectic or fancy, just a simple smoothie with ingredients you'll usually find in your fridge (or freezer) and can’t be bothered to go to the shop. The great thing about making smoothies with kids is that it’s easy for them to get involved and the mess is MINIMAL!!
They're a great way to get your little ones to eat some extra fruit or veg, even if it’s hidden.
Dylan doesn't like avocado at all where as Rudy would eat them all day everyday if he could. After asking Dylan to let the dog out into the garden I managed to sneak half an avocado into the mixture and Dylan had no idea. Win.
- 1 banana
- a handful of blueberries
- 6 or 7 strawberries
- a handful of raspberries
- 1 teaspoon of chia seeds
- half an avocado
- 1 cup of coconut water
- some almond milk to top up (ran out of coconut water)
- Desiccated coconut
Throw it all into your blender in no particular order and get blending.
If you have some smoothie left over - which we always do, we’re big fans of transferring the smoothie into ice lolly moulds to eat them frozen. I actually sometimes prefer this as drinking smoothies can be quite gluggy.
