So last saturday the boyf and I were invited by Moët to go and watch the tennis semi final match between Müller and Čilić at Queens Club. This was very exciting as I had never been but especially for Pete as he's a big fan of the sport. He has all of the equipment, the posh rackets, balls, the whites, the lot. Shame he can’t actually play… If it was football and the amount of balls that hit the net he’d be playing upfront for Chelsea. Soz baby!
Pete was playing at a festival in Poland the night before, so getting home for our grown-up and childfree day out was a slight mish for him. He boarded the 1st of his 2 flights at 5am and was supposed to land at 9.30am but obviously because we have somewhere to be at a certain time of course the flight was delayed by an hour. The plan was for him to go back to Luke’s (Pritchard’s) house West to get ready because it saved time and then I collect him at midday. That was the plan… but standard Pete & Portia those bloody plans never seem to go smoothly. Pete didn’t get to Luke’s until 11.40am because of the frickin’ delay! Now let me tell you something about Pete, he takes FOREVER to get ready. For him, a daily shower takes about 45 minutes!!! So for him to get ready in 20 minutes… I wasn’t too optimistic. I waited for only about 5 mins for him to get into the car so wasn't too bad. He was super rushed though. I left him to settle for another 5 -10 mins before I started on the Insta Stories!
We arrived in perfect timing. The lovely Kate from Pr, The Communication Store was there to greet us and ushered us straight to the Möet suite. We were so excited to be there. The weather was perfect, not as hot as that Wednesday before when it was 34 degrees!!
Our day basically involved having lunch, drinking silly amounts of heavenly champagne, meeting lot’s of lovely people, oh and watching the tennis of course. Möet really knew how to look after us. The food was mega. Soft shell crab sushi, nom! Chargrilled chicken, nom! Amazing cured ham, NOM! This was all washed down with their new champagne, Ice Imperial. Now, I’m a massive fan of champagne but when I was introduced to this bottle of love… Game changer!
We eventually sat down to watch the game. There was a lot of noise coming from the crowd at what seemed like key moments. I found myself sat there asking Pete to explain the whole game to me all the way through. I think I tested his patience quite a lot. I never was the sporty type!
The day came to an end and our carriages were waiting. We got home and straight away I said to Pete that we needed to order pizza and watch the Glasto footage. I couldn’t understand why my head was pounding so badly and that’s when I thought… I was already hungover!
So, it would seem I have the bug for the tennis or is it the Möet? Most likely both… One thing I do know is Wimbledon is right around the corner and it couldn’t come soon enough. So, ahem… Tickets Please!
